Meet Our Staff

Our summer camping season is approximately 10 weeks (including trainings) but our work continues throughout the year with various programs and events. None of which would be possible without this team.

  • Executive director

Our Executive Director, Mr. Matt and his wife Miss Susan began this ministry at Pine Valley 21 years ago with a desire to create a loving family atmosphere, in a place set apart, where kids could encounter the life-changing gospel message. Matt and Susan have been married 35 years, have 5 adult married children, and 21 grandchildren to date.

Mr. Matt is incredibly passionate about the gospel, relationships, and play! He often says kids spell love P.L.A.Y. He loves adventure, so if you stop by camp, you can still find him making time to throw campers in the pool or give jeep rides.

Miss Susan is compassionate and is known as the "camp mom". Because of her desire to create an atmosphere of warmth and kindness, she has a ministry of availability. You will often find her poolside or fireside or about anywhere that someone is in need of a chat.

Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this."

  • Director

Matt (known as "Matto" by all his friends) Reichart, Jr. and his wife Jen. Matto and Jen have six children named Jada, Emery, Silas, Matthias, Naomi, and Selah. Matto and Jen love Jesus,  their kids, adventure, and a good cup of coffee. Matto grew up in camping and has been at Pine Valley full time for 12 years. Camp is a place where Matto and his family can invite others into fun and adventure while introducing them to the good news of Jesus.

1 John 3:18 "Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth."

  • Kids Camp Director

Abel Carleton has been part of Pine Valley Camp since 2011.  He has served as a volunteer, maintenance man, counselor, and head counselor. He loves to have fun with kids and be part of the mission here at Pine Valley. Abel is drawn to a community where everyone is working together to live out the gospel in all that they do. Because of his love for camp, he has accepted the position of Kids Camp Director.  He is excited for this opportunity to give everything he has for the Lord and the mission of Pine Valley Camp.

2 Cor 5:17: Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

  • Teen Camp director

Joel joined the Pine Valley team in the summer of 2017.  He has long had a passion for camping, hiking and any outdoor adventure.  Joel and his wife Sara met at a summer camp serving as wilderness guides and both love the impact camp can have in the lives of kids.  Joel and Sara have two boys, Canaan and Judah.  He is excited to be serving in a position that allows him to take teens on outdoor adventures and disciple campers and counselors.  Joel enjoys working on projects with Canaan, watching and playing sports, music and outdoor adventures.

Psalm 62:5-8 “Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.”

  • Maintenance project director

Mark Parker worked at Pine Valley in high school for two summers, then worked in the construction world for 7 years only to be called back by the Lord to Pine Valley to work full time in 2015. He got married at 20 to his wife Kelly and has two sons Max and Zeke. Mark leads all of the construction projects at camp and the maintenance crew during the summer season. Mark loves that camp is fun and different. It provides a deeper experience with the kids and staff as they live in community for 6 days straight each week. He enjoys just about anything outdoors: hunting, biking, ice fishing, and skiing.

John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

  • Office manager

Emily Toland has worked as a summer employee since 2012 serving as the Store Manager and more recently, Office Assistant. In 2016, the Office Manager position became available and Emily felt called to work at Pine Valley full time. Emily attended Pennsylvania State University for Communications, Science and Disorders. She is the varsity field coach for Ellwood City's Track & Field team at Lincoln High School, and teaches kids clubs at Allegheny Center Alliance Church.  In her free time, she enjoys playing recreational volleyball, lifting, and spending time with her family & friends.

Psalm 63:3 “Because Your love is better than life I will praise you.”

  • bookkeeper

Christine McQuiston has served as our Bookkeeper since March of 2015. When the Lord brought her down the lane, she said she felt like she found a home. Not only has she been a delightful addition to our staff, but she keeps all of our finances in order. As a laid-back lover of Jesus, her optimism has been an encouragement to us all. She recently discovered a love for Peach Rings and is passionate about the community and mission of Pine Valley. You will often find her reading or in conversation with someone.

Matthew 17:20 "Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

  • rebuild campaign administrator

Connie Miller has worked part time at Pine Valley since 2012.  Her path here was truly God's doing as an answer to prayer.  She was a stay-at-home mom for 15 years to her three children (Abby, Matt, and Aaron) when she started to pray about what to do next outside of the home.  She wanted to be somewhere doing something that mattered. The Lord fulfilled that desire by leading her to Pine Valley. Some of her responsibilities include being the administrator of the Rebuild Campaign, marketing and communications, and assistant to Mr. Matt.  Connie loves the atmosphere fostered here at camp -- it's fun, servant-minded, family-oriented, and full of grace and love. When not at camp, she enjoys doing any kind of outdoor activity but her favorites are road biking, rock climbing, flat water paddling and hiking.

Philippians 2: 9-11 "Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

  • Grants administrator

John DeFillippo has been serving as the Grants Administrator at Pine Valley since April of 2017. He has an extensive background in human resources and assisted in one of his previous employer's foundation work. John loves to do research and write which are important in the grant process. He had been looking for an opportunity to serve in a meaningful position and Pine Valley has provided that. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, listening to sermons and Christian music, holistic health issues and the four major sports.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean  on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight."

  • Intern

Julie Yoder first heard about camp from a Pine Valley Alumni. Julie was unsure of what her experience would be, but after a summer of serving as a counselor her life was changed. Julie’s heart was drawn to a community that was kingdom minded and strives to live out the gospel through faith, fun, and love. Julie chose to come back for a second year because she felt as if her time at Pine Valley was not over. She is currently serving full-time in a leadership role, and has incredible passion to be a part of the mission here at Pine Valley Camp, to provide community and a safe haven for anyone who comes into her life.

Isaiah 6:8, Mark 16:15 I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,"Who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here am I. Send me." And He said, "Go... into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation."
